29 August 2025 - 8.44.0 - Mediasite Video Platform

Mediasite 8.44 makes content creation even easier with the ability to launch Mediasite Capture directly from Channels, introduces custom player color options for better branding, and improves folder navigation for a smoother content management experience — plus a round of bug fixes to keep everything running smoothly.

New Features

:card_index_dividers: Improved Folder Visibility in Channels

The folder view in Channels is now expanded by default, making it easier for users to quickly browse and select the right folder when adding or organizing presentations.

:film_projector: Launch Mediasite Capture Right from Your Channel

Content Creators can now launch Mediasite Capture directly from a Channel page in supported LMS integrations, streamlining the process of recording and publishing new videos. This eliminates the need to switch to My Mediasite, making it easier to keep content organized by course.

You can enable this early access feature by going to Management Portal > Settings > Server Settings > Early Access Features and enabling Channel Content Management.

:bar_chart: System Archive with Retention Policies

We’re excited to introduce the new System Archive feature — a powerful native tool designed to help Mediasite Administrators automate content lifecycle management and optimize storage across their video libraries.

With System Archive, admins can define retention rules based on:

  • Presentation Upload Date

  • Last Viewed Date

  • Or a combination of both

Presentations that meet the configured criteria will be automatically moved to the Archive system folder and set offline, making them unplayable to viewers

From there, administrators can take additional actions such as:

  • Optimize presentations to reduce file size and storage footprint

  • Automatically move archived presentations to the Recycle Bin after a defined period

:warning: Note: This feature is only available to customers with a valid Mediasite Archive license.

Customize Your Player’s Look & Feel

You can now personalize the Mediasite Player by setting a custom color for the play button and timeline — giving you more control over the appearance of your video content. This enhancement updates the main play button, timeline progress bar, and even extends to quizzing interfaces, including play buttons and clickable elements within quizzes. Whether you’re aligning with your institution’s brand or simply adding a visual refresh, this feature offers a new level of customization for your viewers.

To enable and configure this feature, go to Management Portal > Settings > Application Settings > Player.
