New Features

New Channels Are Here!

We’re thrilled to announce that the new Channels experience is now enabled for all Mediasite customer sites, replacing the existing look and feel of Channels! Designed to transform how content is organized and consumed, this powerful and intuitive update brings a revolutionized experience to your viewers.

Here are some highlights you’ll love:

  • Modern & Engaging Design: Experience a refreshed, visually appealing interface that makes browsing, searching and accessing videos more intuitive and enjoyable for everyone.

  • Improved Content Discoverability: Viewers can quickly find all relevant videos for a specific topic or course in one central, easy-to-access location, enhancing their journey.

  • Granular Download Control: For instructors, you now have precise control over what download formats (transcripts, podcasts, vodcasts, media packages) are available within each channel.

:file_folder: New Upload and Embed Tool Is Here!

In addition to the new Channels, we are also excited to announce that the search/upload/record and embed tool in our LMS integrations is now enabled for all customer sites, replacing the existing workflow for adding content to an LMS page/course. Designed to keep all activity within the LMS, content creators can now search existing Mediasite presentations, upload files, or launch Mediasite Mosaic or Capture to record a new presentation. The new workflow shows upload and processing progress, allows users to edit the title, and even allows content to be directly added to the appropriate Mediasite channel just by checking a box. No more trips back and forth to My Mediasite!

:speaking_head: Specify A Spoken Language For Mediasite Captioning

You can now define the spoken language when submitting presentations for captioning in Mediasite. This setting can be applied to individual presentations, schedules, or templates, providing you with more control and enhancing caption accuracy.

Language auto-detection will remain available and is still the default option if no language is specified.

:film_strip: Reduce Presentation Storage

The new “Optimize” feature helps you save valuable storage space. By removing unnecessary files like MP3 podcasts, MP4 vodcasts, and extra adaptive bitrate versions automatically; streamlining presentations to their essential components. This action can also be automated, allowing content to be storage optimized at a specific interval after it the content is created (i.e. automatically optimize content that was created more than two years ago). Contact your Mediasite representative to have this feature enabled on your account.

:file_cabinet: Archive Presentations

The new Archive feature helps you identify and retain older content as necessary. This action moves content to the new ‘Archive’ system folder and sets the content to an Offline status, so it is no longer playable. This action can also be automated, allowing content to be storage archived at a specific interval after the content is created (i.e. automatically archive content that was created more than two years ago). Contact your Mediasite representative to have this feature enabled on your account.
