We had a customer ask about setting recordings up to capture in PiP mode. Their content is typically only recorded locally and not published online. Can this be done? I was looking through players and stream groups but didn’t see an obvious way to set this up.
Quick question to clarify… Are you looking to have the recorder create a PiP video (composite image of two sources) “burned” into a single video file? Also, that video file needs to only be available from the recorder itself, and not ever uploaded to your Mediasite Cloud site?
Yes, a composite image of the two sources burned into a single video would be ideal. I wouldn’t say the file needs to only be accessible via the recorder, just that this group typically doesn’t publish their recordings to the cloud site. I only mentioned that to avoid the need for say, a template that automatically publishes to the cloud site.
Hey Todd, just checking in to see if you have any updates on how this could be done.
Unfortunately there isn’t a good way to do this today. It would require a code change in Mediasite to allow a new layout option (currently Mediasite supports balanced or biased layouts). This is something we are considering for our product roadmap, but no timelines for it right now.
Although the ‘PiP’ layout is not explicitly available, I wonder if creating a Vodcast file would satisfy the ask (the two sources burned into a single video)?
