3 April 2026 - 8.51.0 - Mediasite Video Platform

Mediasite Video Platform (MVP) 8.51 introduces the Mediasite Accessibility Dashboard. Additionally, several bug fixes are included in the release.

New Features

:wheelchair_symbol: New in Mediasite: Accessibility Dashboard

Mediasite now includes a new Accessibility Dashboard, giving administrators a centralized view of how accessible their video content is across the platform.

While Mediasite has long focused on ensuring the platform itself meets accessibility standards, this new dashboard helps organizations take the next step: improving the accessibility of the video content they publish.

With the Accessibility Dashboard, admins can:

  • Track an overall Accessibility Index across presentations in their library

  • View a distribution of accessibility scores to identify where improvements are needed most

  • Review accessibility indicators at the presentation level, including captions, additional caption languages, audio descriptions, OCR text detection, summaries, presenters, and tags

  • Quickly identify videos that may require remediation through clear compliance indicators

Each presentation is assigned an Accessibility Conformance Score aligned with WCAG conformance expectations and accessibility best practices:

  • Non-Compliant - No captions present. Content does not meet WCAG Level A requirements.

  • Partially Compliant - Captions are present but audio descriptions are missing. Meets WCAG Level A requirements.

  • Fully Compliant - Captions and audio descriptions are present, meeting WCAG Level AA expectations.

  • Above Compliance - Includes captions, audio descriptions, and additional accessibility metadata such as OCR text, presenters, tags, or additional caption languages. Exceeds WCAG Level AA expectations.

  • Leadership Standard - Includes captions, audio descriptions, comprehensive metadata, sign language interpretation, and alternative media text. Meets the strictest WCAG Level AAA expectations.

Because achieving full WCAG AAA conformance is often extremely difficult for video content, Mediasite introduces the “Above Compliance” (AA+) category to recognize meaningful accessibility improvements that go beyond WCAG AA while acknowledging that AAA remains a high bar for many organizations.

To ensure the index reflects actively available content:

  • Presentations in Archive and Recycle Bin are excluded from scoring

  • External Presentations are excluded from scoring index, but are displayed in the Accessibility Overview and the presentation list.

This enhancement represents Mediasite’s continued commitment to accessibility, empowering organizations not only to deploy an accessible platform but also to ensure the content they create is accessible to every viewer.

:ear: Audio Descriptions Available Without Additional Configuration

This update removes the requirement to enable Audio Descriptions through a system property. Audio Descriptions, an important component of accessibility compliance, are now available in all Mediasite instances without additional configuration.
